I am an avid knitter, but often I start projects that end up in a basket in some closet. Well intended works in process often sit for months and longer. Just the other day, I pulled out a project for a scarf that had a complicated pattern of stitches and I sat for the longest time frustrated and mad at myself for losing the pattern.
KnitMinder Lite, an App I discovered recently would have made this waste of time and disappointment a thing of the past. KnitMinder Lite is free and has the same features as the paid version KnitMinder with the exception of a limited storage capacity.
The app is a project based organizer as well as an catalog system for materials. You can itemize any number of different projects. You may have a scarf you are knitting for your husband, or a baby blanket for a charity. Maybe you have a project that you are planning to do. Within each project you can delineate the pattern, yarn, needles and photos. Planned, In Process, and Finished projects can all be stored in KnitMinder Lite.
You can enter needles by size, material, length and manufacturer. The same is true for yarn. The yarn menu allows you to choose the percentage of type of yarn. For example: 30% Soy and 70% Wool. It is easily entered with a sliding bar feature. Yarns of 26 varieties are available to choose from including a spot for other fibers. Patterns are easily stored for each project or for general storage.
What I like the most about this app is the photo interface with your iPhone or iPhone touch. You can instantly take a photo of your project or select one from your library. The help menu and support website have clear precise instructions on how to get set up with your projects.
KnitMinder Lite is a knitters dream come true. Portable, easy to use and an invaluable reference you shouldn’t knit without.
Knit Minder Lite requires the iPhone OS 2.2.1 or later and is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch.
