There are multiple different game modes available in Balcassa – but all are variations on the same theme. The object of each of the puzzles is to position a number of cubes into a sequence, a pattern or orientation (a la Rubiks) by moving them around the screen.
The control system in Balcassa is natural and intuitive, making the game instantly playable. Simply tap to select a cube and then drag your finger towards the desired direction. The cubes actually “roll” rather than slide – adding another whole new dimension to the puzzles, in that the cubes can have different markings on each face of the cube. The faces need to end up in the applicable pre-defined positions for that puzzle in order for the game to be complete.
Offering gameplay that continuously increases in difficulty, Balcassa really does give your grey matter a workout. There are 9 different puzzles in total – starting from a reasonably easy ordering of single-value dice from 1 – 8, to some much harder puzzles – Balcassa provides one serious challenge.
Balcassa requires the iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with both the iPhone and iPod Touch.
