Fans of the online MMORPG World of Warcraft can rejoice – the game now has its very own iPhone application. Developed by Blizzard, The World of Warcraft Armory for iPhone and iPod Touch gives you mobile access to the WoW Armory database. You can use the app to search for items, characters, guilds and arena teams as well as view detailed profiles for each.

Keep in mind you that in order to use the WoW Mobile Armory you do need to have a World of Warcraft account. It doesn’t however, need to be currently active. Once you’ve logged in, the home screen displays the World of Warcraft Mobile Armory’s main features:

  • My Characters – View your character profiles and information including stats and gear, talents, achievements, calendar, arena teams and guild info.
  • Guild – View guild members and guild information
  • Calendar – Keep track of current and upcoming in-game events such as the Darkmoon Faire, Brewfest, Harvest Festival, Hallow’s end, Feast of Winter Veil, weekly Stranglethorn Fishing extravaganza etc.
  • Leaderboards – Displays a ranked list of your tracked characters based on their current achievement score.
  • Browse items – All of the different types of items found in World of Warcraft are listed here: Dungeons and raids, Item collections, Weapons, Armor, Gems, Glyphs, Containers, Consumables, Trade Goods, Miscellaneous, Companions. Each item category is broken down further into item classes e.g Weapons has One-handed axes, Two-handed axes, Bows, Guns etc. The menus are all very easy to navigate and the item’s are listed by descending item level. You can also sort by name or quality.
  • Talent Calculator – allows you to view all of the different talent options and create talent builds for each of the game’s 10 playable classes – Death Knight, Druid, Hunter, Mage, Paladin, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock and Warrior.
  • News – Realm firsts and general news.

The armory features are all linked to your active character, which can be changed in the My Characters pane of the characters screen. You can return to the home screen at any time by simply tapping the home icon, located in the lower navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.

Bottom Line: All the features of the online World of Warcraft Armory in the palm of your hand. An essential app for fans of the game. Easy to use, easy on the eye and made from the ground up with the mobile user in mind.

The World of Warcraft Mobile Armory requires iPhone OS 2.2 or higher and is compatible with both the iPhone & iPod Touch.

The only problem with this app is it has a password issue. If your wow password is over 14 characters it will say incorrect login.

That same wow password works fine in wow.
You actually have to shorten your wow password to 10 characters to use this app. I did this and it worked.

There is also a select number of characters you can use in the password.
I sent a ticket to Blizzard support on this security issue and they ignored my ticket and closed it.

If you use this app and have the same problem send them a ticket maybe they will change it after enough people spam them on it.

Great app… been using it for a couple days now and I love it…except for 1 thing… I can’t schedule anything on the calendar… Being a guild officer it would be nice to have the ability to schedule an event without having to be at my computer.

Another thing that I would ABSOLUTELY LOVE… A wow instant messenger app that allowed you to chat/ send messages to other guildies from your iphone to someone so that they would receive it in game, or send a message/ text from phone to phone, or simply computer to computer… guildies could opt to install the app on their phone/ computer (as an addon… this would make coordinating guild events easier.. if someone is running late, you could send a quick message from your phone to everyone online to let them know you were on your way… etc etc.. just something to think about.

  3. Great website here man, thanks. Can’t wait for the latest expansion, Cataclysm. Knowing Blizzard though I wouldn’t be shocked if it came out in 2011!
