If you have kids, you know how hard it can be to entertain a toddler. Designed with a short attention span in mind, OccupyBaby from developer Milobox aims to both amuse and educate. OccupyBaby is a cute little app that helps your child’s language development through the identification of farmyard animals and features an incredibly simple game-play mechanic – that thankfully, even a 2 year old can understand.
Open up OccupyBaby and you can jump straight into the game. At the time of writing (v1.0), OccupyBaby only features the one “theme” (farm), but new new themes including ‘Under the Sea’ and ‘Black & White Shapes’ are planned for release with the next update. The farm features a whole host of animals to interact with, including a pig, cow, sheep, chickens and a rooster. Tapping on one of the animals triggers it’s call, and a childs voice also pronounces the name of the animal. Sliding your finger across the screen enables you to pan accross the whole farmyard scene.
The illustrations in OccupyBaby have a real cartoonish charm and the twangy “Old MacDonald” soundtrack is great – both perfect for children.
Bottom Line: OccupyBaby is a great learning tool to help teach your kids the names of basic farmyard animals – and in three languages: English, French and Spanish. Future updates and the addition of new themes will only expand upon its utility.
