Think you’ve got steady hands? Put your skills to the test with iBalls:Steel – a simple new game with a big prize. Developed by MiRE software, iBalls:Steel gives you the chance to win up to $10,000 if you can register the highest score by the end of their contest period.
iBalls:Steel is just a basic marble rolling game – but it’s not easy. The aim is to roll a marble around a level for as long as you can, dodging obstacles and keeping away from walls. The moment you hit something it’s game over. Your score (visible at the top of the screen), is the number of seconds that you manage to keep the ball “alive”.
To make things more challenging, the marble ‘heats up’ over time and needs cooling – which you achieve by navigating the marble to a single raindrop located at random. However, as soon as you reach the raindrop, it’s location changes and you then have to race against the clock to get to it before the ball overheats. It’s simple, but it is kind of addictive.
There are 10 levels in all in iBalls:Steel, but only one is unlocked after you purchase the app. The other nine need to be bought separately through an in-app purchase. The prices range depending on the level – the higher the level, the more expensive it is. It costs up to $49.99 for level 10, but the prize money on offer also increases for each level. Besides the price difference, the levels are all quite similar – the general principle of the game is the same, it’s just the potential reward that increases. You can submit your scores directly to the online leaderboard for a go at the cash prizes, but it does require an internet connection.
The competition officially kicks off on the 1st of September and runs until September 30th. Following that, further competition dates will be announced directly through the app.
iBalls:Steel requires the iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with both the iPhone & iPod Touch.
