Super Marble Roll Review

Price: $0.99    Score: 7/10    By Shaun CampbellSuper Marble Roll

Super Marble Roll from iScape Games is a new take on the accelerometer-based “rolling-ball” (a la Super Monkey Ball) style of game that has been incredibly popular on the iPhone. Super Marble Roll is a challenging game of balance and control, in which you must tilt your device in order to navigate the 3D platform environments and reach your objective.

Super Marble Roll puts on show some a solid physics engine, simple graphics, but engaging gameplay. You control the ball entirely by accelerometer – simply tilt to move. It’s just like those old box and marble Labyrinth games you used to play with as a kid.

The levels in Super Marble Roll are 3D rendered environments that have elements that move and rotate in 3 dimensions, making the challenge of getting your marble from Point A to Point B even tougher.

You are awarded a score at the end of each level based on the speed in which it was completed. Your score is time x 100 – but there are other ways to get points, such as collecting crystals that are placed around each level. Red crystals = bonus points, Green crystals = time bonus, Blue crystals = mega bonus.

Super Marble Roll is a nice cheap alternative to Super Monkey Ball, and thanks to a v1.2 update, now has a number of updates that greatly improve playability. Super Marble Roll now benefits from automatic game-saving when you hit the home button and there is a now also a new game-pausing option available.

Super Marble Roll requires the iPhone 2.0 software update and is compatible with both the iPhone & the iPod Touch.
