Written iPhone App Review
Four in a Row is just like like the original Connect Four – the grid is even the same size – 7 vertical columns and 6 horizontal rows. You and your opponent (computer or a friend) take turns placing colored discs into the columns. The object of the game (as if it needs explanation) is to connect four of your own discs in a row, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
There’s no real need for any fancy options or graphics here. Four in a Row plays out exactly as you’d expect, and I like that.
And courtesy of Wikipedia, an interesting word on Connect Four/Four in a Row strategy:
- “With perfect play, the first player can force a win by starting in the middle column. By starting in the two adjacent columns, the first player allows the second player to reach a draw; by starting with the four outer columns, the first player allows the second player to force a win.”
Four in a Row requires the 2.0 software update and is compatible with both iPhone & iPod Touch.
