Easy Clock Steals the Night

Written iPhone Alarm Clock App Review

The iPhone basically replaces most of the gadgets in your house. But the great thing about it is that better versions of what you’ve already got just keep appearing! And here’s the prime example: Easy Clock from developer Rock iPhone will be the new bedside clock, whether you’re a fan of the glow-in-the-dark digital clock or not.

Easy Clock pretty much has everything Night Stand does and then some! The only exception being that Easy Clock doesn’t allow you to change the day the week starts on because it doesn’t clutter the interface with the whole week dimmed out – it just gives you the day straight off. And just like Night Stand, Easy Clock is free!

One of the first things to note is you can change the interface to any hue you desire. Night Stand gives you three color ‘themes’, but Easy Clock gives you an RGB meter to adjust each color as you see fit. The settings options are available within the application, meaning you don’t have to go to the settings app as you need to with Night Stand.

There are 3 different ambient modes: a bright mode for those who need a night-light and clock all-in-one, a dim mode for those who like their clock visible but not TOO visible, and a sleep mode which allows the keypad to lock. You can also choose to get rid of those creepy lines behind the clock that make it look like the old digital ones your dad used to have.

There are also the usuals you expect from a clock: 24/12 hour time and the seconds, day and date display options. The coolest thing would be the ability to switch between analog and digital interface. There’s something elegant about an analog clock that isn’t quite captured in a digital one.

The only thing I see missing would be an alarm clock – but I guess Apple did build some applications right and included an alarm function, so it’s not strictly necessary here. It would be nice to have an application that can replace my Apple clock, but I guess we can’t have everything we want.

My only criticism of Easy Clock is that the developers made numerous spelling errors (e.g Wendesday), which detract from the overall finish of this app.
