Anyone who does interval training of any kind could benefit from the new iPhone app ITGO – Interval Trainer GO.
Developed by AppNoose Ltd, the ITGO application is both easy on the eyes and equally easy to use. Everything about your interval workout can be customized with ITGO, from the duration of the workout, to the number of intervals you do. You can also specify warm-up and cool-down periods, separate to the rest of the workout – a great way to remind yourself not to skimp on a really important aspect of training.
When an individual interval is done, you can choose to either be notified by a vibration, a sound, or both. In order to achieve this, the app has the option to turn off sleep while the app is running.
In order to track your intervals and your progression through those intervals, there is a circular graphical display that continuously updates throughout the workout. Three main screens, all accessible with a single tap, allow you to change your options for settings music and timing.
Music has been well incorporated into ITGO, and users can import music play lists right from their iPhone/iPod and modify playback settings right from the ITGO interface. You can change song volume, enable playlist shuffling or even just play one song over and over again. There is also a handy option to save multiple playlists, with the ability to integrate both slow and fast tracks into your intervals so you can really get in the right mood for your workout.
Overall, ITGO – Interval Trainer GO is a great way for people who use interval training methods to keep track of their workouts, and provides a hell of a lot more features than your average stopwatch. The audio features of the app compliment the more technical aspects and make for a truly integrated training partner. If you use intervals, and can handle the price tag, ITGO is for you.
ITGO – Interval Trainer Go requires the iPhone OS 2.2.1 or later and is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch

@ Greg,
The review date is 9/28/09 and your comment 10/21/09. You will find that a lot of apps reduce the initial price, some quite substantially; not sure if that is the case here, I will check it out later when I am on iTunes and the Apple store,
John
