4Bugs is a new picture hunt game based on the old newspaper classic. Developed by Root 9, the team responsible for the hit iPhone game Yetisports, 4Bugs is a challenging and engaging mental workout for one or two players.

It’s classic spot-the-difference gameplay – each round the goal is to spot the 4 differences between two nearly identical images. There are also a number of twists in 4Bugs to spice things up. If you’re confident in the speed of your difference-finding abilities, you can choose to “gamble” and reduce the timer for the chance to get a higher score. You can also increase the time (up to 1 min 20 sec) if you’re struggling to complete the rounds.

Once you’ve finished a round, you get a preview of the next puzzle. If you don’t like the look of it, you have the option of skipping the image – but you can only do it twice. After two changes you just have to go for it (and some images are harder than others). There are also a staggering 500 photos in 4Bugs – so you’re unlikely to see the same puzzle twice.

Your score for each round is calculated based on how much time you had remaining, and then gets added to your score from the previous rounds. If the timer runs out before you finish though – game over!

4Bugs requires the iPhone OS 2.2 or later and is compatible with both the iPhone and iPod Touch.
