Wikipedia has long been the #1 go-to source for information on, well, almost anything. There are a number of Wikipedia viewers available on the App Store, but Wikiamo is by far the most popular. It does what Wikipedia Mobile ($2.99) does, but does it for free.
Wikiamo is described by developer Satoshi Nakagawa as a ’safari-like browser’ that uses custom-formatting to display Wikipedia articles comfortably on the iPhone. Wikiamo alleviates the need to pinch-zoom and scroll side-to-side when reading.
Wikiamo v1.8 hosts the following features:
- Bookmarks
- History
- Page-Caching (for offline viewing)
- Multi-language
- Table of Contents
Currently, Wikiamo settings cannot be changed within Wikiamo – you have to go through System Settings. You can change font size, auto-rotation and page-caching options (incl. permanent caching).
Wikiamo is simple and straightforward to use, and comes highly reccommended.
