Little bit to the left…no no, little bit to the right…nah, back to the left. Sound familiar?
Hanging a painting has never been an exact science. For most people, it usually involves a bit of trial and error. Now there’s an iPhone app from iHandyApp Inc. that takes the guess work out of hanging up your frames.
iHandy Level is a free app that makes use of the iPhone’s built-in accelerometer. It features a traditional bubble-level interface and also a digital display of the current angle, measured in degrees from the horizontal.
It’s not an app that you’ll use everyday, but it does what it sets out to do, and does it well.
Important: iHandy Level needs to be calibrated before use.
To calibrate, find a flat surface and orient the phone in portrait mode. Press the crosshairs button. Rotate the phone into landscape mode and repeat.

this app is a little useless due to the calibration function and the inability to undo a calibration. the purpose of having a level, plumb bob etc is to check things accurately. while this application does do that, you will have to be 100% certain that your calibration surface is level. if you didn’t have an accurate level handy to use for calibration then you you should pass this product up and go to the hardware store instead.
